Excavator Bucket Cracks’ Welding

JW Welding & Repairs supports other contractors with our welding services.

For this project, we decided a “stick” weld using high tensile and hard surfacing rods would be best suited for this repair. We began by drying the metal first, then we cut out the cracked metal and once again dried the spot to be repaired.

Next, we put the “high tensile” weld passes in place of the missing material, with each pass completely cleaned prior to putting in the next pass. We finished with the placement of the “hard surfacing” weld to cover the “high tensile” weld. An experienced metallurgist or welding engineer will notice that we also used an old weld formation technique from Europe that minimizes future cracks.
